Week 32

Dear Parents and Students,

The shorter weeks always seem to be the busiest, and this week was no exception. The main focus of this week has been the Science Fair. Thank you to all parents who were able to come in to visit the fair; your support is always appreciated by students and teachers alike. All of the hard work from the past eight weeks has paid off, as the morning was a great success. A link to photos of the event can be found at the bottom of this post.

In our Literacy Workshop, we have been busy with Writing an Opinion. We have planned, drafted, revised, and proofread, and on Monday we will publish our final copies. Presentations will be on Tuesday, 7th May.

We only had one regular Maths lesson this week, about finding the median, mode, and range of number sets. We will continue with Topic 17 next week, and our topic test will take place next Thursday.

In Social Studies, we are still learning about the American Midwest. This week we were focused on the Great Lakes States, and next week we will take another look at the Plains States. We will then review the entire chapter towards the end of next week.

Throughout next week, we will also be doing some short practice tests in preparation for the upcoming Iowa tests. There is no way to study directly for the tests, but tips on how to best prepare for the tests have been sent home. Other important dates are included below, as usual.

Our field trip was a great way to finish the week and relax after all of our efforts put into the Science Fair. We now have a three-day break to enjoy. I hope you all enjoy the long weekend, and I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday!

Important Dates:

Fri, May 3: Mid-semester break – school closed

Thu, May 9: Class photos

                                    Maths test – Topic 17
