Dear Parents and Students,
We started our week with a lovely morning
for our Easter Egg Hunt, and the warm weather has followed us throughout the
week. Pictures of the hunt can be found via the link at the end of this post.
In the classroom, we began a new topic in
Maths. Topic 17 is all about data
and graphs, and we have started looking at how to calculate averages. We will continue with averages next week, and
the topic test won’t take place until the week following the mid-semester
break.
In our Literacy
Workshop, we read The Last Dragon, and discussed the story in our Reading Circles. We have also
started work on or next writing assignment, Writing
an Opinion. We have planned and drafted our essays, and we will revise and
proofread them next week, and then publish them in time to present on Tuesday,
7th May.
Our
Science classes have mostly been
dedicated to our final conferences for the Science Fair. We will be presenting
to Grades K, 2, and 6 on Monday, and then the Science Fair takes place on
Tuesday morning. On Wednesday, we will present to each other in the classroom.
We are all looking forward to presenting our work to everyone next week.
In
Social Studies, we completed our
studies of the geography and history of the Midwest with a chapter test on
Wednesday. We have already moved our attention to what the region is like
today, and we will continue next week.
As
you know, our annual May field trip will take place next Thursday, and Friday
is our mid-semester break. On Tuesday, of course, we have our Science Fair.
These dates are listed below, as usual. Parents who are able to make it, I look
forward to seeing you all on Tuesday at the Science Fair. Students, I will see
you all on Monday!
