Week 17

Dear Parents and Students,
I’m very pleased to welcome everybody back to begin 2019. I hope everyone enjoyed your break and are feeling refreshed.

We picked up where we left off in Math, completing Topic 9, and completing the Topic Test on Friday. Next week, we will turn our attention to fractions as we begin Topic 10.
In our Literacy Workshop, we completed our unit dedicated to verbs, and next week, we will begin our next unit about adjectives. We will also begin reading The Stranger as we begin a new theme – That’s Amazing – in our Reading Circles.
In Science, we have previewed our lessons about motion. We will be doing some practical assignments next week, including experimenting with paper planes!
In Social Studies, we have begun our study of the American Northeast, beginning with a focus on geography, climate, and natural resources. We have also started a minor map assignment of the area.
It has been a very short week, but we will be back to a regular schedule next week. Enjoy the weekend, and I’ll see you all on Monday!
