Dear Parents and Students,
It was very
disappointing that our Fun Day was rained out again, but we managed to have
plenty of fun in Grade 4, and finished our week with a pizza party to celebrate
the birthdays of Runa and Miyu.
In Maths, we completed Topic 10, with the
test taking place on Thursday. We have begun Topic 11 already, which continues
our study of fractions. Topic 11 is short one, and our topic test will take
place next Thursday, 24th January.
In
our Literacy Workshop, we are busy drafting our latest writing
assignment – Writing Instructions. We will be revising, proofreading and
publishing our instructions throughout next week, with the due date on
Thursday. We are still studying adjectives, and will continue to do so next
week.
In Science, we
had a lot of fun on Wednesday, as we completed our practical assignment
involving paper planes. We also enjoyed playing with toy cars, but it was all
for Science, we promise! Pictures of our practical explorations of force and
motion can be found via the link at the end of this post.
In Social
Studies, we have been learning about the Industrial Revolution and its
effects on life in the American Northeast. Next week, we will focus on what the
region is like today, before reviewing everything we have learned about the
region, and how it compares with other parts of the world.
Please
remember that clubs have finished for Semester 1, and bus and pick up times
will return to the regular schedule on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please also take note that next Friday, 25th
January will mark the beginning of Chinese Week at HIS (running through
